Our business sectors

As welding is used to manufacture a majority of industrial or general public amenities, Institut de Soudure serves the needs in virtually all major industrial sectors: oil; gas; chemicals; energy; naval; aeronautics; road transport; rail; works of art; building structures; boilermaking; piping.

Through its competences in testing, inspection, training, expertise and R&D, Institut de Soudure provides assistance to equipment manufacturers as well as to operators of industrial sites.

Institut de Soudure carried out its first major testing worksites during the 1950s, in Algeria when the first pipeline systems were being built. Since then, it has kept in close contact with the oil and gas sectors and in particular with its major prime contractors such as Total or Exxon. The assignments carried out for these sectors take place not only in France (refining, distribution, storage) but also in other countries (exploration, production).

Institut de Soudure also works with the nuclear industry, and has done so for many years.

Its teams are, in particular, present at the design stage of equipment as well for monitoring their manufacture and testing, plus for training engineers and technicians. Institut de Soudure therefore maintains a close relationship with prime contractors in the sector (CEA, Areva, EDF, Alstom, etc….).

Armed with its know-how in the nuclear sector, Institut de Soudure is also in a partnership with DIRECCTE, in order to conduct an ambitious joint action - ACTION - the aim of which is to help motivated businesses in the Ile-de-France region become suppliers to the nuclear industry.
